Simon Morton is Director of Major Events and International Relations, and is responsible for overseeing UK Sport’s role in leading the bidding and staging of major sporting events, and developing the UK’s international sporting relationships. He is responsible for developing the Gold Event Series – the UK’s major events legacy programme following London 2012, a £40m 10-year investment programme to ensure that the UK remains a leading host of major events. He has sat on Organising Committees for World and European Championships across many sports, including the World Athletics Championships and the Tour de France.
Prior to UK Sport, Simon worked for the International Badminton Federation (IBF), fulfilling a number of roles. As Head of Marketing for IBF, he was responsible for handling the sport’s major event award process, in addition to overseeing badminton’s global television and sponsorship operations and rights distribution
