Sarah O’Connor has always had a real passion for sport and in late 2006 she was approached about taking on the Chief Executive role at the Federation of Irish Sports. At that stage she was very happy working as a solicitor in Arthur Cox but Sarah took a leap of faith and she joined the Federation.
Sarah’s responsibilities as Chief Executive of the Federation have extended and include raising sponsorship, organising training, promoting Irish sport and advocating on behalf of sport to government. Sarah has co-ordinated and directed the ‘Why Irish Sport Matters’ campaign on behalf of all of Irish sport in the run up to the last six government budgets. This campaign is aimed at highlighting the broader impact of sport to Ireland particularly in terms of the dividend sport delivers to community, the economy, health, tourism and the reputation of Ireland both home and abroad.
Sarah completed a LLB at Trinity before undertaking a Masters of Law at the University of Cambridge. In 2009 she completed an Masters in Sports Management at the Instituto de Empresa in Madrid, Spain.
