A native Kilkenny cat, Miriam has 15 years’ experience in international business tourism, both in the public and private sectors. An honours graduate of UCD in International Arts (English and French), Miriam began her professional career with Beacon Conference and Incentive as part of an IBEC graduate placement programme. It was here she realised that promoting Ireland as a world class business tourism destination internationally was the industry for her and she has remained dedicated to it ever since.
In 2004, Beacon Conference & Incentive merged with Drury Sports Management to become Platinum One. Miriam became Head of sales in 2005 and was appointed as Events Director in 2006 at the age of 28. During her time in Platinum One she over saw hundreds of international conference and incentive groups from 50-1000 delegates, from bid stage to event operations.
She left Platinum One in 2008 to travel the world and on her return accepted a job as Dublin Convention Bureau Manager in January 2009. Here, she introduced a new strategy for growth focusing on lead generation and conversion and grew overseas tourism revenue delivered by the bureau by 100% in year one, with consistent year on year growth subsequently.
In 2013, Miriam moved from Dublin Convention to manage the newly formed Event Ireland department (also within Fáilte Ireland) where she developed and launched a new strategy for attracting international events of scale. In November 2014, Miriam was appointed Head of Business Tourism and Events in Fáilte Ireland where she is responsible for overseeing Dublin Convention Bureau, Event Ireland and the Business Tourism Unit.
